Meet Your Cambodian Guide – Tun Dong
Discover Cambodia Through the Eyes of a Local, the Stories of Its People, and the Heart of Khmer Culture.
Welcome to Cambodia — a land where ancient temples rise from the jungle, golden sunrises illuminate sacred towers, floating villages move gently with the rhythm of Tonle Sap Lake, and every village has a story waiting to be discovered.
My name is Tun Dong, a Cambodian English-speaking tour guide, educator, and passionate storyteller from Siem Reap. Since 2016, I have had the privilege of welcoming travelers from around the world and guiding them through the extraordinary heritage and living culture of Cambodia. Since 2018, I have worked as a licensed English-speaking tour guide, leading tours according to travelers' interests, itineraries, and personal plans.
More Than a Tour — A Journey into Cambodia
For me, guiding is not simply about visiting famous places and taking photographs.
It is about telling the stories behind the stones.
It is about standing beneath the magnificent towers of Angkor Wat and imagining the civilization that created them. It is about discovering the mysterious smiling faces of Bayon, walking among the giant trees embracing Ta Prohm, feeling the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside, and meeting local people whose traditions continue to shape Cambodia today.
I believe that the most memorable journeys are those that allow travelers to feel a place, not simply see it.
That is why I love combining Cambodia's magnificent historical sites with authentic cultural experiences — from ancient temples and archaeological wonders to local villages, countryside landscapes, floating communities, traditional livelihoods, and the everyday life of Khmer people.
Sharing the Soul of Khmer Culture
Cambodia has much more to offer than its magnificent temples.
• Behind every temple is a story.
• Behind every village is a tradition.
• Behind every smile is a culture.
• And behind every journey is an opportunity to understand Cambodia a little more deeply.
Through Angkorian Tours, my goal is to help travelers discover these hidden connections.
Whether you are watching the sunrise over Angkor Wat, exploring the remote temples beyond the main Angkor complex, hiking through the natural beauty of Phnom Kulen, cruising through the communities of Tonle Sap, observing birds in Cambodia's countryside, or simply sharing a conversation with local people, I want your journey to feel personal, authentic, educational, and unforgettable.
A Guide with an Educator's Heart
My background is not limited to tourism. I also have experience in education and have worked as an English teacher, mathematics teacher, and morality teacher. I was responsible for teaching and preparing quarterly curricula, experiences that helped me develop the ability to explain ideas clearly and communicate with people from different backgrounds.
This experience has deeply influenced the way I guide.
I don't want visitors to simply memorize dates, names, and architectural terms. Instead, I want to make history come alive — to explain why places were built, what they meant to ancient Khmer people, how they were connected to religion and society, and why they remain important today.
Understanding Travelers from Around the World
My experience in hospitality began with work as a receptionist and guest-relations professional in Siem Reap. I later gained international experience working with travelers in Patong Beach, Thailand, where I helped communicate with foreign visitors and explain tour itineraries.
These experiences taught me something very important:
Every traveler is different.
• Some come to Cambodia searching for history.
• Some come for photography and adventure.
• Some want peaceful moments in nature.
• Some want to understand Khmer culture.
• And some simply want to experience something they have never experienced before.
My role is to listen, understand, and create a journey that matches their interests.
My Passion for Authentic Experiences
I especially enjoy introducing visitors to the Cambodia that exists beyond the traditional tourist routes.
From rural landscapes and rice fields to local communities and traditional livelihoods, these experiences reveal another side of Cambodia — a Cambodia that is peaceful, warm, genuine, and deeply connected to its traditions.
With Angkorian Tours, I also enjoy connecting travelers with Cambodia's natural environment and birdlife, offering opportunities to appreciate the country's landscapes and biodiversity while experiencing local culture.
My Promise to Every Traveler
When you travel with me, I want you to feel more than a visitor.
I want you to feel welcomed as a friend.
I will do my best to make your journey comfortable, informative, enjoyable, and meaningful. I will share the knowledge I have gained through years of guiding, while also leaving space for you to discover Cambodia in your own way.
Because years from now, you may not remember every temple name or every historical date.
But I hope you remember:
The first golden light over Angkor Wat, the mysterious smile of Bayon, the sound of water on Tonle Sap, the peaceful Cambodian countryside, the kindness of a local smile, and the feeling of discovering something truly special.
