What you'll experience

We begin where the story of Singapore started; at the banks of the Singapore River and the Civic District. Connecting the iconic colonial buildings and landmarks in the Civic District from its historical beginnings to the modernity and development of the iconic Marina Bay Area and the Central Business District. Listen to fascinating stories regarding the Singapore River and the Merlion. Discover where the elements of Singapore’s success began; like land reclamation and urban development. As we trek towards Chinatown, we will encounter Hawker Centres, Temples and iconic buildings and landmarks showcasing Singapore’s cultural heritage. We will explore themes that have made Singapore successful and unique as a nation; such as Racial Harmony, Law and Order and of course, Food. Excite your taste buds and dig into some local delicacies as you listen to stories of early life in Chinatown; such as immigration, secret societies, opium and shop houses. Follow me and go beyond sightseeing to a truly immersive and experiential understanding and appreciation of Singapore as an economic, cultural and global success story.

What to expect

Trace back from the impressive modernity of Singapore today and imagine what it was like before and how it all began. Discover the amazing transformation of Singapore from an unknown fishing village, to a slum ridden existence fighting for survival to what it is today; an economic and cultural miracle, a global success story admired throughout the world. How did Singapore do it? From its colonial beginnings to the 21st century and beyond; we will explore what it was like then, to what it is now and what Singapore will be in the future.
